Range Skills for the New Firearm Owner

Skills for the NEW Firearm Owner — 3.5 Hours — $125.00

Prerequisite: This course presumes you have completed a MA LTC Safety Class and have received your MA LTC. This is an introductory class.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements may be removed from training.

Course Outline
Participate in a Range Safety Brief, discuss the elements and how they apply in practice. Learn the fundamentals of choosing equipment for the range, the basics of working from a holster and an introduction to marksmanship skills.

• Discuss Equipment Choices for the Range.
• Range Safety Orientation Details.
• The "How and Why" an organized safety brief and plan matters.
• The "Nuts and Bolts" of how to use a range.
• Proper Presentation from and Recovery to an OWB Holster.
• Iron Sights only, no Red Dots.
• Shooting basics — the importance of proper grip, sight alignment, sight picture, stance, trigger control, and follow through.
• Details of sight alignment at various distances.
• The components of the marksmanship mindset.
• Drills – Drills - Drills
• No Live ammunition in the classroom. All firearms are to be unloaded prior to entering the class.

Classes starting at 8:00am will run until 11:45pm.
Classes starting at 1:00pm will run until 4:45pm.
Classes starting at 6:00pm will run until 9:45pm.

Equipment List
• Quality functional semi-automatic pistol – Full size and compact pistols only.
• No micro pistols or pocket pistols.
• 3 magazines.
• Magazine pouch.
• Dominant side, hip-mounted OWB holster.
• Please wear long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5" belt, closed toe shoes, and a crew neck shirt.
• Optional loading devices.
• Estimated round count: 150 rounds pistol.
